Support for women in difficult times

[ Material, psychological, and humanitarian assistance for those who are now the most vulnerable ]

ABOUT

“Support for Women in Difficult Times” is an initiative of our organization aimed at helping women in Kherson and frontline regions who have endured occupation, the loss of loved ones and stability, and daily shelling. We are launching this direction of work by building a system of material and psychological support for those who are currently in the most vulnerable circumstances.

Our goal is to provide essential resources now while gradually creating long-term solutions that will help women recover, find safety, and begin moving forward.

IT'S IMPORTANT

After de-occupation, Kherson continues to live under constant threat. Many women in frontline areas have lost family members, homes, jobs, and their sense of security. They are often left alone with psychological trauma, a lack of resources, and uncertainty.

Our task is to ensure that people are not left alone in this difficult period. We support those who have suffered the most and who are most in need of care.

What we do

Material support

We provide:

  • food and hygiene kits;

  • other essential household items for daily living;

  • support for families in difficult material conditions;

  • assistance in restoring safe spaces — including the start of repairs to a children’s room in one of Kherson’s shelters.

Psychological support

We provide:

  • individual consultations with a psychologist;

  • support groups for women who have experienced trauma;

  • crisis assistance;

  • art therapy and restorative sessions.

Creating safe spaces

We work to:

  • equip spaces for women and children in shelters;

  • make shelters more comfortable, warm, and useful for the community;

  • create places where women can receive assistance and feel supported.

Informational and educational support

We help with:

  • basic knowledge on coping with stress;

  • consultations on social services;

  • information about available forms of assistance and development opportunities.

OUR FIRST STEPS

We have only started this direction of work, but we have already:

  • formed a team of specialists and volunteers;

  • provided material assistance to women in difficult situations;

  • begun repairing a children’s room in a Kherson shelter;

  • prepared a psychological support program that will launch soon;

  • initiated a series of art therapy events.

We aim to gradually expand the scale of support and bring in new partners.

PROJECT NEWS

Meeting with families of servicemen

During a gathering in a Kherson bomb shelter, we met with mothers and wives of servicemen, listened to their needs, and created a safe space where they could share experiences and briefly escape heavy thoughts.

We discussed the challenges they face daily and provided support and a warm atmosphere. Such meetings help women find understanding, release emotions, and feel that they are not alone.

With the help of donors from the UK, we prepared small gifts to remind them that they matter, and provided simple household items to ease their everyday lives.

Simple things that are hard to live without

Simple things that are hard to live without often become critical for people in difficult circumstances.

Orthopedic shoes help a woman with a foot amputation reduce pain and move more confidently. An electric wheelchair restores mobility to those who lost it. Generators in Kherson shelters provide heat, light, and safety during constant blackouts and shelling.

Thanks to donors and volunteers, we were able to support these people during hard times and not leave them alone with their struggles.

Art therapy that heals

An art therapy session with gingerbread painting became a warm and quiet space for mothers of fallen heroes, where they could momentarily let go of their pain.

Creativity helps shift attention away from heavy thoughts, find calm, and process emotions gently and without pressure.

In this circle of support, they could talk, remain silent, or paint — and feel that there were people beside them who understand.
